New Delhi: Historical decisions have been taken regarding railways in the cabinet meeting held under the auspices of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government has restructured the railway board and 8 different services of the railway. Under this, the Chairman of the Railway Board will now officially act as the CEO. Three posts of Railway Board members have been terminated. Now only 4 railway board members will work with less CEO in the board.

(1) Change in the appearance of the Railway Board:

Let us tell you that after railway minister, the biggest officer is the Chairman (CRB) of the Railway Board. Till now there were 7 board members. Railway board is formed by joining CRB and members. All major decisions of the Railways are taken by the Railway Board under the supervision of the Railway Minister. Now this railway board has been shortened. The 3 highest level posts of Railway i.e. 3 Board Member Posts have been abolished. With this, the scale of 27 general managers has been increased to almost equivalent to the board members.

(2) Indian Railway Management Service was formed :

8 different examinations (group service) for different works of Indian Railways i.e. for different departments, till now the employees worked in the same department Used to. In such a situation, there was rift in these departments for the big posts of the railway, which was a big problem. In the new restructuring, a new Group A Central Service named Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) has been formed by merging these 8 group services together. This means that in place of those eight services, the Indian Railway Management Service alone will work.

(3) Changed the name of Indian Railway Medical Service:

The name of Indian Railway Medical Service (IRMS) has now been renamed as Indian Railway Health Service (IRHS). Till now, there used to be legal and internal battles between the officers coming from different service groups in the railways for good posting etc. Even if a person from a mechanical service group was seated at a particular post because of his / her ability, the officials of the electrical or other group service used to accuse the other group service officials of bias. Now this dissatisfaction will end with the merger of all group services of railways and there will be clarity in work.

Seniority and group service quota in promotion was over- Till now, the work, assignments and related posts given to railway officers were based on their seniority and their group service quota. The basis of promotion was also seniority and quota, but after merger, now all officers will be promoted on the basis of their ability and performance. They will also be given work on this basis. With this, everyone will get equal opportunities. The new railway officers will now be made experts in a special field during their long service. At the same time, the emphasis will be on developing a necessary attitude towards all the works of the railways. The benefit of this will be that any senior officer of one level can be given responsibility of management level on the basis of the standards of his ability.

UPSC to take Indian Railway Management Service Examination- After merging 8 different group services into one service, now the Railway Union Public Service Commission and DoPT are jointly working together to look into the fresh examinations and other matters. Huh.
