Washington: NASA has given a big responsibility to a female scientist. NASA Headquarters in Washington has chosen a new science chief. She will be the first woman to hold this position. The woman’s name is Nicola Fox, she will serve as the associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington. Nicola Fox has also worked as a senior scientist for the Parker Solar Probe mission studying the Sun, that’s why she is also called a solar scientist.

As NASA’s science chief, Fox’s portfolio includes more than 100 NASA missions to explore the mysteries of the universe, reports the news agency Reuters. Missions that assess such questions as how hurricanes form on Earth, how we can support astronauts on the Moon, and whether we are alone in the universe. Fox will also be responsible for fostering an enabling environment and supporting a diverse team of scientists and engineers from across the country.

Who is Nicola Fox?
Fox began his career at NASA in 2018, leading the Heliophysics Division, which oversees the agency’s efforts to study the Sun. Throughout his career, Fox has written numerous scientific articles and papers, in addition to making scientific presentations around the world. Prior to this, she worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where she was chief scientist for heliophysics and project scientist for NASA’s Parker Solar Probe. In 2021, he was awarded the American Astronautical Society’s Carl Sagan Memorial Award for his leadership in the field of heliophysics, his extensive projects, and his supervisory experience. In 2020, NASA honored him with the Outstanding Leadership Medal.
