New Delhi: Chitra Ramakrishna, former chief of the National Stock Exchange, has been sent to CBI custody for up to 7 days. Former NSE chief Chitra Ramakrishna was arrested on Sunday night. He is accused of messing up the country’s largest stock exchange and taking big decisions under the influence of a person named Himalaya Yogi.

The probe agency told the court that Chitra Ramakrishna needs to be interrogated and confronted with the evidence. Because she is trying to avoid it till now. The CBI told the court that Ramakrishna was interrogated along with his former aide Anand Subramaniam on March 6, but they refused to identify him.

CBI said that we have recovered 2500 emails between the accused. In this case, the investigating agency has sought 14-day custody of Chitra Ramakrishna, who has been arrested for alleged disturbances in the stock market.

On the other hand, Chitra Ramakrishna’s lawyer said that he was interrogated for 8 days. During this, she also appeared before the CBI on Saturday and Sunday, although the court has rejected her request for protection from arrest. The lawyer also argued that he has an 85-year-old mother and a young daughter and that their liberty is being violated.

CBI sources had told a few days ago that Anand Subramaniam, the former Chief Operating Officer of NSE, was described as a “yogi”. With this, Chitra Ramakrishna had a conversation through email. On the other hand, CBI argues that Chitra Ramakrishna evaded answering some questions and hence we had to arrest him. We need to face them with evidence.
