New Delhi: In Maharashtra, more than 8 thousand cases of Coronavirus infection have been reported for the fourth consecutive day. According to the Health Department, 8,623 new cases were registered in the state on Saturday, while 3,648 people got healthy after getting treatment. According to statistics, 51 people have died due to infection in 24 hours. Talking about the whole of Maharashtra, the number of active cases is 72,530, while the total number of cases is more than 21 lakh 46 thousand. More than 20 lakh 20 thousand people have become healthy after getting treatment. The death toll due to infection has crossed 52 thousand. In view of the increasing cases of Corona virus, the Maharashtra government has increased the lockdown in Amravati district to 8 March.
Cabinet secretary meeting
On the other hand, Cabinet Secretary Rajeev Gauba Saturday held a high-level meeting with the Chief Secretaries of Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Telangana, and Jammu and Kashmir amid rising cases of Coronavirus. That In these states, cases of coronavirus infection have been increasing continuously since last week. In the meeting, the cabinet secretary told the states that there is a need to maintain vigilance and awareness. As much as possible efforts should be made to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection so that the success achieved due to joint efforts last year is not lost. The cabinet secretary said that the rules should be strictly followed with state vigilance. Testing should be done, Corona guidelines should be followed and strict action should be taken against the violators.
The situation will be reviewed by March 5-6
In view of increasing cases, the lockdown in Amravati has been extended till 8 March. Maharashtra officials said that the situation will be reviewed in Amravati between 5 and 6 March. Only then a decision will be taken on the lockdown. State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also appealed to the people to follow the Covid rules. In a conversation with the English newspaper Hindustan Times, officials have told that the lockdown has also been increased in Akola, Akot, and Murjitapur. In the last two weeks, 28 out of 36 districts of the state have registered an increase in cases. At the same time, the number of active cases has increased in the districts of the Marathwada region like Latur, Hingoli, Parbhani, and Nanded. The health department data shows that the number of active cases has increased in the state. Along with this, new hotspots have been prepared in Vidarbha, Amravati, Akola, and Yavatmal.
Amravati minister Yashomati Thakur had earlier said that the lockdown in the district would continue till the morning of March 1. He had said that all the shops would be closed except for the items of need. In addition, government and private educational institutions will also be closed. However, during this time people will be allowed to buy goods from 9 am to 5 pm. Corona virus restrictions have been imposed in areas like Akola, Washim, Buldhana and Yavatmal.
The second dose starts on 13 February
Under the vaccination campaign, 1,42,42,547 doses were given in a total of 2,92,312 sessions till Saturday morning in the country. Of these, 66,68,974 health workers were given the first dose, 24,53,878 health workers were given the second dose. In addition, 51,19,695 personnel of the advance front were given the first dose. The second dose for the vaccination campaign began on 13 February. The vaccination campaign for the advance front personnel started on February 2.
A total of 7,64,904 doses were given on the 42nd day of the vaccination campaign (27 February). In a total of 13,397 sessions, the first dose was given to 3,49,020 people and the second dose to 4,20,884 people.
