Islamabad: Election Officials of Pakistan have announced the election of the Senate of the Upper House of the Parliament of the country (Senate Elections) on March 3. The election is announced at a time when there are differences between the government and the opposition on the issue of allowing open ballots during voting to avert corruption.
The tenure of a total of 52 members of the country’s 104-member Senate expires on 11 March. His six-year term is ending on that date. They also include four of the eight senators from the erstwhile Union Territory of Tribal Areas (FATA). Since these areas have been merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, they will not be re-elected and the number of members in the Senate will be reduced to 100.
The Election Commission of Pakistan said in a notification that voting will be held for the election of 12-12 members each from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan Provinces, 11-11 from Punjab and Sindh Province.
