New Delhi: According to data from the States and Union Territories, the total number of cases of coronavirus infection in the country on Wednesday night increased to over 80 lakh while the number of healthy people 73 lakhs. According to the updated data released by the Union Ministry of Health at 8 am, the number of infections in the country had increased to 79,90,322 after 43,893 new cases of Covid-19 came to light in a single day. The death toll rose to 1,20,010 with 508 more people killed.
However, the total number of cases of infection in the country reached 80,36,084 while 1,20,456 people have lost their lives so far due to this deadly virus, according to the PTI virus table released on the night. According to it, so far 73,10,184 patients have been infected in the country. This table is based on the information received from the concerned States and Union Territories. At present, 6,10,803 people are undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection in the country, which is 7.64 percent of the total cases.
In India, the number of infected had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and over 40 lakh on September 5. The cases crossed 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28 and 70 lakh on October 11. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 10,54,87,680 samples of Kovid-19 were tested till October 27, out of which 10,66,786 samples were tested only on Tuesday.
