Seasoned Players Prefer Card Deposits

A recent Casino Days research based on the analysis of five months-worth of internal operator data has revealed that seasoned and non-seasoned online casino players in South Asia have different preferences when it comes to using payment methods for making deposits and withdrawals at online casino platforms.

According to the shared data, which covers the period from January to May 2023, only 10% of all relatively new players on the Casino Days website from the region use credit or debit cards such as VISA or Mastercard to process payments to and from their i-gaming accounts.

Veteran casino players, on the other hand, have a much stronger inclination towards classic card transactions as opposed to using the more modern mobile app or net banking solutions. The former option is preferred by 30% of seasoned real money gamers, a three times bigger share than that of newer players paying with cards.

While more than four-fifths, or 83%, of unseasoned South Asian casino players like using “new tech” solutions, only 62% of casino veterans share this preference.

Card Payments Carry Greater Value than Digital Gateways

Another interesting finding from the Casino Days research paper on payment methods employed in i-gaming in South Asia is that debit and credit card transactions carry much greater monetary values than payments done via fintech apps.

While only 8% of all deposit and withdrawal transactions on the platform within the analyzed 5-month period were completed using cards, these payments contributed a far more substantial 21.25% share of the total successfully transferred amounts.

Mobile app and banking payments, on the other hand, have carried 71% of the total deposit and withdrawal volume through 87% of the total number of executed payments.

The much smaller number of card users compared to mobile app and net banking fans are usually making much larger payments than them.

Combined with the fact that card payers are more likely to be seasoned players than casino novices, we could infer that veterans as a whole are willing to spend more on casino entertainment.

Crypto payments display the biggest ten-fold difference between the number of transactions (0.10%) and the total transacted volume (1.00%). However, the full contribution of cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals measures just one single percent of the value of all payments on the platform within the analyzed five-month period.

Payment Wallets Diversify the Payment Options at Casino Days

The greatest bulk of transaction numbers and volumes processed at the Casino Days platform is done via net banking solutions and mobile apps such as PhonePe, PayTM, and Google Pay which can be integrated into the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in India.

Nevertheless, the Casino Days operator has taken due care to include several payment wallets – the likes of Neteller, Skrill, and AstroPay, as eligible deposit and withdrawal options to be inclusive for as many as possible South Asian players with different preferences for payment solutions.

Such wallets have processed 4.90% of the payments on the platform, carrying 6.75% of the total transaction volume, but regardless of the relatively small contribution, these options have been added to the website to stay.

“Accessibility and useability are two important aspects of our online casino product, and as such, limiting ourselves to offering only Mobile app as a means of payment for our players has simply never been an option,” the Casino Days team explains.
