
New Delhi: The government on Wednesday said that at least 370 civilians and 99 security personnel have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. This information was given by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. He said the central government’s policy is “zero tolerance to terrorism”.
He said that terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir have come down. He said that there were 417 terrorist attacks in 2018 while there were 255 terror attacks in 2019, 244 terror attacks in 2020, and 229 terror attacks in 2021. He said that in Jammu and Kashmir from 2014 to 2019, at least 177 civilians and 406 security personnel were killed in five years. He said that at least 370 civilians and 99 security personnel have been killed after the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

Rai said that the security system and intelligence system have been strengthened in Jammu and Kashmir to prevent terrorist attacks. Apart from this, round-the-clock checks, patrolling, and prompt operations against terrorists are being conducted at the Nakas. In a written reply to another question, Rai said that the Jammu and Kashmir government has informed that after the abrogation of Article 370, proposals for investment of about Rs 51,000 crore have been received there.
He informed that the Central Government has notified a new Central Scheme for Industrial Development of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme announced on 19 February 2021, aims to attract capital investment by 2037 with a financial outlay of Rs 28,400 crore.
