Santiago: A magnitude 6.8 earthquake (Earthquake) was felt on Tuesday on the northern coast of Chile. The American Geological Survey said that there was no immediate news of the loss of life from the earthquake.
The Chilean Navy said that there is no possibility of a tsunami. The American Geological Survey reported that the first tremor was felt late at 12:00 pm local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was 78 kilometers north-east of Atacama City in Vallenar. A few minutes later, another shock of 6.3 magnitude was also felt.
Earthquake tremors are often felt here due to Chile being located on the so-called ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’.
