Tokyo: An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck Japan’s central prefecture of Ishikawa and surrounding areas on Friday, the weather agency said.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the temblor occurred at 2:42 p.m. local time (0542 GMT), at a depth of 10 km, registering an upper 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Noto, Ishikawa Prefecture.
