Noida: Three officers of a Noida-based pharmaceutical company have been arrested in Uzbekistan Cough Syrup Case allegedly in Uzbekistan by drinking Kapha syrup manufactured in India.

According to an office official associated with the office, the police have arrested Tuheen Bhattacharya, Atul Rawat, and Mool Singh. He said that the owner of the company is absconding and is being searched. He claimed that he would be arrested soon. In December 2020, 18 children died in Kazakhstan due to drinking syrup made by the said company.

Based on the information of the Government of Kazakhstan, the Government of India took the matter seriously and the company was raided. The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) Department suspended the drug production license of Marion Biotech Private Limited, a drug firm Marion Biotech Private Limited, after the death of 19 children allegedly in Uzbekistan. In addition to drug record maintenance, the company’s drug production license has been suspended for not providing information about raw material procurement on time.
