Bengaluru: The risk of Coronavirus Omicron variant, a new variant of the coronavirus found in South Africa, is increasing rapidly in India. The central government has already issued an alert for this. Meanwhile, two people who returned from South Africa to Bangalore have been found to be Corona positive. After both the persons were found corona positive at the airport, they have been isolated in Bengaluru However, till now it has not been confirmed whether a new variant of the corona has been found in these two people or not. At present, samples have been sent for genome sequencing.
State Minister R Ashok said that more than 1000 people have returned from South Africa. All have been tested. Those who have already come to Bangalore or elsewhere will be tested again after 10 days. On the other hand, the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu has deployed 4 health department officials to oversee the screening at the state’s international airport. These officers will stay at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli airports.
99 more students corona positive in Dharwad’s medical college
Karnataka has become the hub of coronavirus. Earlier, till Friday, the number of corona infections among students studying in a medical college located in Dharwad increased to 281. On Friday, 99 more students were found to be Corona positive, a few days ago a cultural program was held in this college in which about 600 people took part. The district administration believes that the reason for the spread of corona infection in such an increased number is the organization of this program.
However, out of 281 students, only 5 students have seen symptoms of the corona. It is also a matter of concern for the government that all these students had got both doses of the corona. All the students found corona infected are said to be MBBS first-year students and they belong to other states. Officials said that as soon as the information related to Corona was received, the college hostel has been declared as a containment zone.
