New Delhi: Union Minister Mansukh Mandavia said on Wednesday that 18 Indian sailors stranded in China will return to India on 14 February. This team will leave Japan on Wednesday and will reach their families again on reaching India.
Port, Shipping and Waterways Minister Mandavia said, “Our 18 sailors aboard the MV Anastasia stranded in China are coming to India. The crew will leave from Japan today and reach India on 14 February. “The minister said that they would meet again soon with their families.”
The ship was stuck on the Chinese coast in September 2020
Mandavia praised the efforts of the Indian Embassy in China and the Mediterranean Ship Company for arranging repatriation. The cargo ship MV Anastasia was stranded off the coast of China in September 2020, an official said.
Earlier, 23 sailors of another cargo ship MV Jag Anand were also trapped in China, which reached India on 14 January.
Indian sailors of another cargo ship returned
A few days ago, Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that the Indian cargo ship MV Jag Anand has changed the crew for sailors in Japan and Indian sailors are coming back to India. Earlier this month, India sought “immediate, practical and timely” assistance for the 39 Indian sailors stranded on both ships in view of the “serious human condition”.
