New Delhi: The whole country is troubled by Coronavirus. In view of the increasing cases of the corona epidemic, many companies have turned work from home, but there are many companies and institutions where it is impossible to work from home. If we talk about the Indian Railways, then their responsibility is very big. Railway employees are constantly working tirelessly to overcome difficult situations such as the oxygen crisis and to make sure there is no shortage of goods. However, railway personnel has also been affected by Corona. 1952 Indian Railway employees have lost their lives due to Coronavirus infection and around 1000 employees are getting infected every day.
Railway Board Chairman Sunit Sharma said, “Railways are the largest employer not only in India but also in the world, employing 1.3 million employees. Railways are no different from any other state or region and we are also facing Covid. We do transportation work and bring and carry goods and people. About 1000 Covid cases are coming up every day. “
He said, “We have our own hospitals … We have increased the number of beds, built oxygen plants in rail hospitals. We take care of our personnel. Presently 4000 railway personnel or their family members are admitted to these hospitals. Our effort is to get well soon. From March to last year, 1952 railway personnel have been killed by the Covid-19 epidemic. “
It may be noted that the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, a union of railwaymen, wrote a few days ago to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, demanding that the families of railway workers who lost their lives while working during the coronavirus crisis Compensation should be given like the personnel of the British line. He said in the letter that as announced for the advance front personnel, this personnel are also entitled to compensation of Rs 50 lakhs and not Rs 25 lakhs which is being given to them right now.
