New Delhi: The whole world is fighting a war against Coronavirus. The most effective way to defeat the Covid-19 virus is to take the vaccine. Meanwhile, Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS, made a big deal about the booster dose of the vaccine on Saturday. He said that India does not have enough data to require a third COVID-19 vaccine shot. According to him, by January next year, enough information can be got about this.
Many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel, are now giving their citizens a third booster dose of the vaccine to increase their immunity. This dose of vaccine is given approximately 6 months after the second dose.
Dr. Randeep Guleria said to NDTV. “I don’t think we have enough data to say that people need a booster dose,” he said. He clarified that even there is not enough data for booster doses for the elderly and people with high-risk diseases.
Decrease in hospitalizations
He said that we will need enough data to take steps in this direction and until the data is not available then no concrete decision can be taken in this regard. According to AIIMS Director, more research is needed in this area. He said that enough data can be found by the early months of next year. He said that we are seeing globally that people who have been vaccinated have got protection from serious diseases and there has also been a decrease in hospitalizations due to the vaccine.
Dr. Randeep Guleria said that Delta infection is spreading rapidly in the United States and Canada and all adults in the US will be able to take a booster dose eight months after the last vaccination. The third dose of Corona will be available in the US from September 20. He said that this clearly shows that the safety of the vaccine decreases over time.
