
Farmers Day 2021 is being celebrated in the country today. This special day is celebrated every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the fifth Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh. Chaudhary Charan Singh played an important role in the upliftment of the agriculture sector during his tenure. Along with this, many policies were started to improve the lives and conditions of the farmers. For this reason, in the year 2001, the Government of India decided to celebrate the birthday of Chaudhary Charan Singh every year on 23 December as Farmer’s Day.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on 23 December 1902 in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. He belonged to a farmer family and understood the problems of the farmers very well. Kisan Diwas gives the idea of empowering the farmers of the society with the latest learnings of the agriculture sector.
Kisan Diwas works to educate the farmers about various issues faced by them. This important day is celebrated to promote awareness among people about the importance of farmers in the country and the overall economic and social development of the country.

Chaudhary Charan Singh is believed to have carried forward the legacy of Sir Chhotu Ram. He also formed the Kisan Trust on 23 December 1978 to spread awareness about the issues of farmers in the country. Chaudhary Charan Singh had also played a leading role in the agricultural sector of the country by introducing the bills of farmers’ reforms.
The then Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh is also known as the messiah of the farmers. He always fought and stood for the rights of the farmers. Today, farmers are considered to be the backbone of India’s economic development.
