New Delhi: Yamaha has recently unveiled a new variant of its popular R15M motorcycle at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo. The R15M Carbon Edition is a special version that features a faux carbon-fiber finish on various parts of the bike, giving it a sleek and sporty look.

Design and features

The R15M Carbon Edition has a striking design that sets it apart from the regular R15M. The entire front fairing, the tail section, and the seats have a faux carbon-fiber finish that mimics the texture and appearance of the lightweight material. The bike also has a gloss finish on top of the carbon-fiber effect, adding to its visual appeal.

The bike also comes with a TFT screen that offers smartphone connectivity, day/night modes, parking location, and other essential readouts such as the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel level, and gear position indicator. The R15M Carbon Edition also has LED headlights and taillights, a digital instrument cluster, and a dual-channel ABS.

Performance and specifications

The R15M Carbon Edition shares the same mechanical specifications as the regular R15M. It is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 18.1bhp of power and 14.2Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox that has a slipper clutch for smooth shifting.

The bike has a Deltabox frame that provides rigidity and stability. The suspension system consists of USD front forks and a mono-shock at the rear. The braking system comprises a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear, both mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels. The bike has a kerb weight of 142kg and a fuel tank capacity of 11 liters.

Price and availability

Yamaha India has not announced the launch date or the price of the R15M Carbon Edition yet, but it is expected to hit the market in the next few weeks. The R15M Carbon Edition is likely to be the most expensive R15 variant in India, as it will command a premium over the regular R15M, which costs Rs 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom).
