New Delhi: Some employees in the Taiwanese company Wistron Corporation’s factory in Kolar district, Karnataka, started an uproar over the non-payment of salaries, which gradually turned into violence. Thousands of iPhones were stolen from the factory amidst violence. The company says that it has lost more than Rs 437 crore due to damage to stolen iPhones, assembly lines and machines. According to local police, in Saturday’s violence over wages, employees carried out arson, violence and loot.

Police said angry employees also damaged the building and vehicles. Still, when his anger did not calm down, he broke even expensive equipment including machines and computers. The company’s executive TD Prashant said in a complaint at the Vemgal police station that equipment, mobile phones, machinery and related equipment worth Rs 412.4 crore were destroyed. Apart from this, infrastructure worth about Rs 10 crore has been damaged. At the same time, cars worth about Rs 60 lakh have been damaged and goods worth Rs 1.5 crore have been stolen. The police has arrested 149 people in the case.

Wistron India managing director Sudipto Gupta has demanded strict action against the guilty employees. In this plant, Apple iPhone is made and assembled. The plant also produces the iPhone SE 2020. According to the information, the employees of the company committed stone pelting and violence at the office after being fed with salary and salary cut for several months. Most of the employees working on the track were not paid on time. Employees have accused the company of not getting salary for 4 months.

The company paid for the mistake of the contractor
Employees say that the company kept giving the only trust, but did not pay salaries. The Labor Minister of Karnataka condemned the violence in this plant located in Kolar district and said that the loss to the company is unacceptable. We have come to know that the company had given money to the contractor. After this, the contractor delayed in giving salary to the employees i.e. the company had to bear the brunt of the mistake of the contractor. At present, the company’s claim is being confirmed. The labor department has issued a notice to Vistron asking him to pay the dues to the employees in three days.
