Dubai: The UAE announced on Saturday that it was opening up the path of citizenship to select foreigners, considered an important step for the Gulf country. It is reported that the ruler of Dubai and the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Makhtoum said that “investors, special talents and professionals including scientists, Doctor, Engineer, Artists, Authors and their family. ” Will be eligible for citizenship after the new amendment.
Sheikh Mohammed stated that, “The UAE cabinet, local courts and executive councils will nominate those eligible for citizenship under the criteria set for each category.”
Being told, the purpose of amending the citizenship law is to promote the talents and competencies present in the UAE and attract others to come to the UAE.
The UAE has a very small Emirati population and a large migrant labor force. People from South Asia have been living there for years on a large scale. There is a fairly good number of Indians in the UAE. Last year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the UAE and spoke of full support from India.
Recently the UAE has taken several important decisions, including the agreement with Israel with the help of the US. After UAE, more Arab countries have signed agreements with Israel.
