Earlier this week, the company has given Pink Slip Notice to 40 Indian employees. According to media reports, the Tiktok company has sent a layoff notice to the employees after a phone call. Meanwhile, the Tiktok company has said that these employees will also be given nine months’ salary. According to a report, the employees of Tiktok India were told that February 28 is their last day. The TikTok company has decided to sack the entire team in India.

The Government of India banned many Chinese apps including Tiktok in 2020 (China Apps Ban) due to security concerns. Since then Tiktok has not been relaunched in India. TikTok company has said that there is no possibility of relaunching Tiktok in India. That is why the company has decided to lay off all the employees in India.

The TikTok app has been banned in India since June 2020
In June 2020, the central government banned 300 Chinese apps, including Tiktok, in view of the threat to the country’s security. Since the increasing tension on the border between India and China, the demand to ban Chinese apps in the country is increasing continuously. Most of the reactions on social media came with Tiktok. Apps like TikTok are a threat to the security of the country. That’s why the central government banned the app.

Indian employees were working
Most of the Indian employees were working in Dubai and Brazil markets after Chinese apps were banned in India. Before Tiktok was banned in India, it had more than 200 million users. India used to be Tiktok’s biggest overseas market. But India banned Tiktok due to security reasons. This ban is still in place. Many companies have already laid off employees. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Twitter, IBM, SAP, and Swiggy have also fired many employees. Due to the global recession, many companies have decided to cut jobs to reduce costs.
