Chandigarh: Ahead of Independence Day, the police have recovered a tiffin bomb containing more than 2 kg of RDX explosives from a village in Amritsar. Police suspect that it may have been shot down by a drone flown from Pakistan.

Director-General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta said that some other explosives were also found in the bag which contained the tiffin bomb. Gupta said that we have made some seizures in the Amritsar Rural district. We have got some grenades and cartridges. The most significant one has been found with an Enhanced Explosive Device (IED) tiffin box bomb.

He said the IED was made in a two-meal tiffin box. The seizure was made near Dhalike village under the Lopoke police station area of Amritsar. Our assessment is that this bomb has been delivered here through drones from across the border. A former sarpanch had informed the police about the drone movement in the area.
