Mumbai: Actress-singer Ila Arun says that the audience mainly knows her as a famous Rajasthani folk singer, but in fact, she is an actress because it was through acting that she entered the world of entertainment.
Ila Arun, 66, sang the song “Morni Baga Ma Bole” from the 1991 film “Lamhen”, the song “Behind the Choli” from the 1993 villain and the Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire” (2008). He gained fame with superhit songs like “Ringa Ringa”, but he started his Hindi film journey in 1983 with veteran director Shyam Benegal’s “Mandi”.
Ila Arun, who is currently playing an important role in Hansal Mehta’s social comedy film “Chhalang”, said that she was interested in acting at an early age through theater. He said the Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy had given him a scholarship for a six-month course at the National School of Drama (NSD) in the 1970s, when the great drama teacher Ibrahim Alkazi used to be the director.
Recalling her experience of working in the film “Mandi”, the actress said that it was the first time she faced the camera, she did not know the difference between stage and camera. He has learned all this while working. “I am very interested in reading and writing,” he told PTI-Bhasha in an interview on Zoom. If I have any doubts about my character, I share it with my director. “
She said that she used to go for singing in her school days and also acted in plays, which she continued in her college days. “I am actually an actress,” she said. Acting has always been a part of my life and I love it immensely, whether it is on stage or in front of the camera.
