New Delhi: The threat has increased after Russia’s occupation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine. Ukraine has claimed that more radiation has started coming out of the plant. According to CNN, several executives of the Neulier plant have been taken, hostage. Alyona Shevtsova, an adviser to the commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces, said on Facebook that Russian forces had taken control of the power station and that employees were being taken “hostage”.
Let us tell you that this nuclear plant had the world’s worst nuclear accident in April 1986, when radioactive radiation spread throughout Europe after an explosion in a nuclear reactor. The plant was located 130 kilometers north of Kyiv. The reactor where the explosion took place has been covered with a protective device to prevent radiation leakage and the entire plant has been disabled.
On Thursday, Zelensky tweeted, ‘Our defenders are giving their lives so that the tragedy of 1986 does not happen again.’ He said, ‘This is a declaration of war on the whole of Europe.’ Sirens reverberated in the morning and people gathered in large numbers at railway stations and were seen trying to leave the area by road.
The Ukrainian president said his country’s military was fighting to prevent Russian troops from taking over the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant. If Russia captures the Chernobyl nuclear plant, then the possibility of great devastation in the world will increase.
Leaders of many countries of the world condemned the Russian aggression, which could cause a great deal of loss of life and it (attack) could overthrow the elected government of Ukraine. Asian stock markets fell and oil prices rose as Russian military action began.
