Beijing: Scientists in China have claimed to have built the world’s first light-based, quantum computer. According to scientists, this computer can work much faster than traditional supercomputers. According to a report published in China’s state media on Saturday, this is a great success for scientists, which will help bring about a fundamental change in the way such a powerful machine is built.
In this regard, citing a research paper published in the journal Science, the official newspaper China Daily stated that “Jiuzhang” quantum computers can reliably demonstrate “quantum computational advantage” that computers There is a great achievement in the field. Notably, quantum computers work very fast, which is not possible for conventional computers. With the help of quantum computers, achievement is achieved in the field of physics, artificial intelligence, and medicine.
According to the news, this supercomputer is named after the ancient Chinese text of mathematics called ‘Jiuzhang’. It will take 600 million years for the world’s fastest computer, Fugaku, to do what this supercomputer can do in just 200 seconds.
This is the second major achievement in the field of supercomputers since Google announced the creation of 53 qubit quantum computers last year. According to the report, Jiuzhang makes complex calculations by manipulating 76 photons while Google’s quantum computer uses superconducting objects. It is noteworthy that over the past few years, China has been investing heavily in mastering quantum technology.
In the year 2017, China launched a quantum communications satellite that cannot be hacked and is equipped with state-of-the-art security features, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The following year, China inaugurated a 2,000-kilometer-long hack-proof quantum communication line between the country’s capital, Beijing, and its economic headquarters in Shanghai.
