3100 metric tons of oxygen being given to states daily
New Delhi: There is hardly any hospital in the country where there is no shortage of oxygen in the growing coronavirus in India. Public and private steel plants of the country have emerged as a troubleshooter amid such misdeeds. Steel companies are supplying more than 3100 metric tons of liquid medical oxygen to the states in a day. According to official figures, on April 25, these steel plants have supplied 3131.84 metric tons of oxygen to the states. At the same time, on April 24, steel plants sent 2894 tonnes of oxygen to the states.
These measures increased oxygen supply
Following the Central Government’s order, these plants have doubled their capacity to manufacture and supply oxygen. A week ago, these plants were supplying only 1500 to 1700 metric tons of oxygen to the states. To overcome the shortage of oxygen in hospitals, these plants started producing only liquid medical oxygen by reducing the production of nitrogen and Aragon. Not only this, in the steel plants, the stock of liquid medical oxygen for 3 and half days is kept for safety and need, which has been reduced to just 0.5 days to increase the availability of oxygen in hospitals.
These steps are being taken for a fast oxygen supply
According to the DPIIT directive, steel plants have converted nitrogen and ergon tankers into liquid medical oxygen tankers to supply oxygen to the states faster. If you look at the latest data, 765 nitrogen with a capacity of 8345 MT and 434 Ergon tankers with a capacity of 7642 MT have been converted into liquid medical oxygen. Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization has given permission to change tankers. Necessary changes have been made in 1,172 tankers with a capacity of 15,900 metric tons for the supply of liquid medical oxygen to the states. Bhilai Steel Plant is also doing better in this episode.
