New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament has started from today. The first session of the year began with the President’s address. The President addressed both the houses. President Ram Nath Kovind said during his address that the government is working continuously to empower the rural economy and farmers of the country. He mentioned the steps taken by the government for small farmers.
The President said that the interests of small farmers (80 percent of the total) have been kept primarily by the government. The government is also making efforts like organic farming. The government is also taking steps to save rainwater.
The President said these things about the farmers
- Before the budget, President Ram Nath Kovind said in the address that the government is working continuously to empower the rural economy and the farmers of the country.
- 80 percent of the farmers of the country are small farmers, whose interests have always been kept at the center by my government. 1 lakh 80 thousand crore rupees have been given to more than 11 crore farmer families through the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi.
- The government has purchased the maximum number of crops. 1.30 crore farmers have been benefitted by the purchase of Kharif crops. During the year 2020-21, exports reached about 3 lakh crores.
- In the year 2020-21, more than 25 percent growth has been registered in agricultural exports. This export has reached about Rs 3 lakh crore.
- Horticulture- We went ahead in the matter of honey production. There was an increase of 115% as compared to 2015-15. The government ran trains for perishable things like vegetables, fruits and milk during the Corona period.
- 80% of the farmers of the country are small farmers, who have been benefited by the government. More than one lakh crore funds have been given to more than 8 crore farmers of the country.
- In the country, the work of irrigation projects and linking of rivers has also been carried forward. Work is going on for the Ken-Betwa project with a fund of Rs 150 crore.
- New sources of income of farmers are being prepared. 64 lakh hectare irrigation potential has been developed through Atal Bhujal Yojana.
- Despite the pandemic, in the year 2020-21, our farmers have produced more than 300 million tonnes of food grains and more than 330 million tonnes of horticultural products.
- Farmers benefited from Kisan Rail. More than 1900 Kisan Rail ran during the Corona period. Kovind said that it shows that if the thinking is new, then old resources can also be useful.
