New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Shaili Oberoi, who became a councilor for the first time from Delhi’s East Patel Nagar ward, has won the election of the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). AAP councilors raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ after the victory of their party’s candidate Shaili Oberoi. Shelly Oberoi has won the election of MCD corporator from ward number 86. Delhi’s new mayor Shaili Oberoi has been an assistant professor at Delhi University. 39-year-old Shelly Oberoi is also a life member of the trade body Indian Commerce Association (ICA). Shelly Oberoi has received many awards in various conferences. She holds a doctorate degree in philosophy from the School of Management Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Shelly Oberoi, a meritorious student while studying in college, was awarded the ‘Miss Kamla Rani Award’ for securing the highest grade point and was also given a scholarship. She has completed her post-graduation in commerce from Himachal Pradesh University, Shaili Oberoi joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2013. She was made the Vice President of the women’s wing of Delhi AAP. Shelly Oberoi presented a petition in the Supreme Court on January 26, demanding that the election of the mayor of Delhi MCD be held on time.

Shaili Oberoi’s father Satish Kumar is a businessman and her mother Saroj is a homemaker. She also has a brother and a sister. Shelly Oberoi has studied management at IIM Kozhikode. In the election of Mayor of Delhi MCD, Oberoi got 150 votes, while BJP candidate Rekha Gupta got 116 votes. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia congratulated Shaili Oberoi after winning the Mayor’s election. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the people of Delhi on the victory of Shelly Oberoi in the mayoral election.
