Riyadh: Saudi Arabia is planning to build a ‘Sideway Skyscraper’ at a cost of 800 billion pounds (Rs 766 billion). This building will be about 120 km long. It is being claimed that 50 lakh people will live in it. This project has been named ‘Mirror Line’ because mirrors will be used in its construction. It is being said that its size will be almost equal to Massachusetts and it will be taller than the Empire State Building.
According to the report of Arab News, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman revealed his plans regarding this huge building in January 2021. Also told about the purpose of building Saudi Arabia’s own pyramids on the lines of the pyramids of Egypt. Planners are questioning the cost of this project. They are asking whether people will be prepared to live in a confined space after the pandemic.
Buildings will be ready in 50 years
The sideway skyscraper ‘Mirror Line’ will be part of ‘Neom’, a desert city. It will consist of two buildings 1600 feet high, which will be parallel to each other in the desert. It will take 50 years to build them. These would be so long that engineers would need struts to take into account the curvature of the Earth. It will have its own high-speed railway line.
The project will pass through the Gulf of Aqaba
Arab News reported that the giant project will pass through a mountain range and a dessert from the Gulf of Aqaba in the west of the country.
The building will have houses and farms
It will take 20 minutes to go from one end to the other in this building. It will be powered by renewable energy. It will also have miles of greenery and houses and fields, from which 50 lakh people will be able to get food. People living here will have to subscribe to the building for three meals a day. Prince MBS said the building would be carbon neutral and would have its own stadium 1,000 feet above the ground.
