New Delhi / Mumbai: After being closed for two years due to restrictions imposed to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic, regular international flights from India are going to resume operations from Sunday. Airports and airlines have completed their preparations for operating regular international flights after two years.
Apart from Indian airlines, foreign airlines like Emirates and Virgin Atlantic are also very excited about the resumption of regular flights. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the capital Delhi expects regular international flights to pick up significantly from the first week of April. The aviation industry, which has been badly affected by the pandemic, is slowly getting back on track and with the resumption of regular international flights, it is likely to revive.
The operation of international flights in India has been stopped since 23 March 2020. With the arrival of the first wave of the Kovid epidemic, this was put on hold, and over time that restriction kept increasing. But now the time has come for this ban to end. International flights from India will start regularly from Sunday.
Although international flights have been operating under the bio-bubble arrangement with some countries even during the Corona period, it has been a limited arrangement. The Ministry of Civil Aviation had announced on March 8 that regular international flights would start from March 27, 2022. Along with this, the provisions related to Kovid prevention have also been modified.
Willie Boulter, a chief commercial officer of the country’s largest airline IndiGo, said in a statement on Saturday that IndiGo is keen to take international operations to pre-Covid levels but it will also depend on arrival rules from other countries. DIAL, which operates the country’s largest airport IGIA, expects more than 60 international flights to operate from here.
