Pooja Devi the first female bus driver of Jammu and Kashmir

Kathua: Today women can do every work to equal men. Whether it is to manage the house or to work outside the house. Today women are ahead in every field. However, in a male-dominated country, women have to go through many challenges to prove themselves.

Pooja Devi, who lives in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, has become the first female bus driver in the state. Pooja Devi is currently running a bus on the Jammu-Kathua route. Pooja Devi, who lives in Sandhar-Basohli village in Kathua district, was already very fond of driving. She was driving a car since she was a teenager. But, Pooja wanted to drive big vehicles. The dream of 30 years of worship (Pooja Devi) is now fulfilled.

Speaking about his hobby, Pooja Devi said, ‘I had not taken education much. So I had no hope of ever getting a big job. I love driving. I like this profession quite well. I have also driven a taxi and truck in Jammu.

Pooja Devi said, ‘I wanted to change this orthodox thinking, who only thought that the bus driver could only be a man. Today, women are flying fighter jets, driving express trains, so what is the problem in running the bus. ‘

On getting the opportunity to drive the bus, Pooja Devi said, ‘I met Sardar Kuldeep Singh, President of Jammu-Kathua Road Bus Union one day, I expressed my desire to drive the bus in front of him. He was quite surprised at first. But, later he gave me a bus and said, “Go, fulfill your dream.”

Pooja (Pooja Devi) further told about her family. He said that his family was financially weak. Because of which she had to work, she worked as an instructor in a prestigious driving institute in Jammu. There they used to get Rs 10 per month. However, this money was falling short for his family. After this, Pooja decided to run heavily there. He started driving on his own with a heavy vehicle driving license.

Let us tell you that Pooja Devi has 3 children. His elder daughter is a student of class 10. Pooja often takes her young son behind the driver seat in the bus. However, his family was unhappy with his decision to become a bus driver. Everyone from his family member to his in-laws were against his decision. But, Pooja did not give up.

Pooja fulfilled her dream with her hard work. Many people are surprised to see Pooja driving the bus. But, when those people board the bus, they praise Pooja’s driving.
