PM Modi dedicated first phase of Shri Mahakal Lok

Ujjain: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Lord Mahakal temple here on Tuesday evening before dedicating the first phase of the Shri Mahakal Lok Corridor. Modi went to the Sanctorum of the temple at around 6 pm. He was wearing a traditional dhoti and had put on a gamchha. He worshiped Mahakal in the sanctum sanctorum. Out of the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country, the temple of Mahakaleshwar is located in Ujjain. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also accompanied Prime Minister Modi.

Earlier, the Prime Minister reached Indore airport from Ahmedabad where he was received by Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silavat, former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. Thereafter, Prime Minister Modi left for Ujjain by helicopter where he was received by Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chouhan. After reaching the Mahakal temple, Modi entered the sanctum sanctorum to worship Lord Shiva.

The Mahakaleshwar Temple Corridor Development Project is located in Ujjain, about 200 km from the state capital Bhopal. In the first phase of this project costing a total of Rs 856 crore, ‘Mahakal Lok’ has been prepared at a cost of Rs 316 crore.
