Manila: Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has warned that citizens who refuse to apply the anti-Covid vaccine will be given the more contagious ‘Delta’ form of the coronavirus will not be allowed to leave the house.
Duterte said on Wednesday night that there was no law to make the ban mandatory, but he was prepared to face lawsuits to keep the country’s spread of infection within the system.
The president said those who don’t want to get vaccinated “I care about them, but they can put themselves in danger at any time.” The Philippines, however, is facing a shortage of vaccines. About 70 lakh people have been fully immunized in the country and the first dose has been given to more than 11 million people.
