New Delhi: The sale of cheap onions will start in the markets soon. NAFED has started working on a plan for this. On the other hand, the director of NAFED also says that onions are also expected to arrive from Rajasthan in the next 10 days. After this the price of onion will come down automatically. NAFED, on the other hand, is starting shipping onions from its warehouses to other states. Cheaper onions are also being sold from Safal’s store. The NAFED director says that this huge difference in the price of onion is being seen due to spoilage of some onion crop.

NAFED will send onions at the rate of Rs. 21 per kg
Ashok Thakur, Director, NAFED, told News18 India in an exclusive interview that soon onions will be sent to the states at the rate of Rs 21 per kg. After this, by adding transport and other expenses, the states will be able to sell that onion in the markets at their own discretion. Meanwhile, in Delhi, we are selling onions at the rate of Rs. 28 per kg at Safal’s store. According to experts, after getting Rs 21 per kg of onions from NAFED, the states will be able to easily sell onions at a maximum rate of Rs 30 per kg by adding their expenses.

NAFED has only 25 thousand tons of onions
The central government now has only 25,000 tonnes of onions left in its buffer stock, which will run out by the first week of November. Managing Director of NAFED Sanjeev Kumar Chadha has given information about this on Friday. Nafed is currently unloading buffer stocks of onions to increase domestic availability and reduce onion prices. In the last few weeks, onion prices have gone up to Rs 75 per kg.

The buffer stock of onion is prepared and managed by the NAFED Center Government so that it can be used as and when required. This year, Nafed had officially procured 1 lakh tonnes of onions for buffer stock. Now, this is being used to curb the rising prices of onions.
