New Delhi: In view of the increasing power and dominance of China at sea, India has also prepared its strength, and to increase the naval strength, India is working fast on the plan to induct six nuclear-powered submarines into the Navy. On Monday, March 8, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) tested the Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology in Mumbai. The test is considered a major step, as this technology will make Indian submarines even more deadly within the sea. Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology allows the submarine to stay underwater longer and makes the sub-surface (sub-surface) platform more deadly while keeping it quieter than a nuclear submarine. This means that it will succeed in dodging enemies.
INS Karanj (INS Karanj), the third submarine of the Kalvari class, will join the Indian Navy today i.e. on 10 March. Now this AIP technology will be added to Kalvari class submarines. The Indian Navy now plans to convert all its Kalvari class non-nuclear attacks into Air Independent Propulsion (AIP). It is believed that by 2023 this work will be completed.

Analysts say the test should be seen as part of the Navy’s overall capacity-building plans, rather than being viewed separately, to build six nuclear-powered attack submarines or SSNs. The plan is. The project is back on track and was discussed at the Commanders’ Conference in Kevadia, Gujarat, with the commissioning of its second aircraft rear INS Vikrant later this year.
Experts say that India is ready to counter the strength of the Chinese Navy. He says that these plans should also be seen by the Indian Navy as a concrete step to counter the growing strength of the Chinese Navy. The strength of the Chinese Navy continues to grow. China has surpassed the US Navy in terms of the number of warships, although the US is still far ahead of China in terms of capacity and tonnage. The submarines currently have only one Akula Class SSN leased from Russia to India and one is expected to be leased before 2025.
Analysts say that the strength of the Indian Navy is going to increase this year and the Ministry of Defense is fully engaged for it. HT has come to know that during a meeting on disintegration in eastern Ladakh, Chinese negotiators complained of an Indian Navy offensive against the PLA Navy in the Indian Ocean from India. This readiness and vigilance by India has limited the Chinese navy only around the Gulf of Aden. No other Chinese warship exists in the entire Indian Ocean. The Indian Navy has made full deployment between China and China.
However, India’s national security planners are concerned about the expansion of the Chinese Navy and it is expected that by 2023 the deployment of the Chinese Freight Strike Force will begin in Beijing as the third aircraft carrier this year. One of the reasons is that the Indian Navy has embarked on its capacity-building campaign. India will commission its second aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and another nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) INS Arighat this year. While INS Vikramaditya will be located on the western seaboard of India, INS Vikrant will be on the eastern seaboard. Each will have an SSBN and SSN as part of their strike force.
The Indian Navy wants a third aircraft carrier with a higher tonnage than the two existing warships, but the Modi government’s strategic planners have not yet decided on the idea, as it would cost heavily. Vikramaditya’s tonnage is 45,000 and Vikrant’s 37,500. The 65,000-tonne third carrier INS Vishal has been in talks for a long time, but it will cost India around $ 15 billion.
What is AIP technology?
It is being reported that AIP or Marine propulsion technology allows non-nuclear submarines to operate without access to atmospheric oxygen and enhances the submarines’ diesel-electric propulsion systems. This means that the AIP fitted submarine does not have to be on the surface to charge its batteries and remains underwater for a long time. While nuclear submarines make noise due to ship reactors, a submarine equipped with AIP technology maintains a deadly silence. This new technology will make the Indian submarine even more deadly.
