Patna: Transgenders will also now be able to become police constables and inspectors in Bihar. While issuing a resolution regarding this, the General Administration Department has cleared the way for direct appointment of transgenders in Bihar Police. These eunuchs will be able to sit in the examination of the constable and inspector coming out for Bihar Police and will also be able to take command of the police stations. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, in which Home Secretary Senthil Kumar, and Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration Department Chaitanya Prasad, Additional Secretary Mahendra Kumar, were also involved.
One transgender will be appointed on 500 posts
Issuing a resolution, the General Administration Department has said that transgenders, transgenders will be able to directly recruit one transgender for every 500 posts in the recruitment of constable and inspector in Bihar Police. Kinnar, transgender has been included under the Backward Classes Schedule 2 according to the resolution. If the eligible transgender is not available at the time of appointment, then this quota will be filled by a general candidate belonging to the Backward Classes. In the upcoming recruitment process of Bihar Police, Bihar will be able to direct recruitment of 51 transgenders, in which 41 posts for constable in Bihar Police and 10 posts of an inspector will be directly appointed for transgender.
What certificates will have to be given to transgenders
For recruitment in Bihar Police, everyone will have to give a certificate of being transgender. All the candidates should be the domicile of Bihar. For this domicile certificate will also have to be given. The criteria of the physical efficiency test of all the candidates will be the same as that of female candidates. Significantly, according to the 2001 census, the transgender population of Bihar is around 41 thousand.
