Zika Virus in UP: Infection is spreading rapidly, 140 cases have been reported so far

Lucknow: Amidst the havoc of dengue, now the havoc of the Zika virus is becoming a new problem for the health department. After the confirmation of the Zika virus in an airman in Kanpur a month ago, the infection has now spread to four districts. The infection has been confirmed in 133 people in the most affected Kanpur, while the number of patients has now increased to five after two more new infected were found in the capital Lucknow on Wednesday. Apart from this, one patient each has also been found in Kannauj and Unnao. After which the number of Zika infected patients in UP has increased to 140.

On Wednesday, Zika virus infection was confirmed in one patient each in Alambagh and LDA Colony of Lucknow. Dengue-like symptoms were showing in both the patients, but the test was found to be Zika positive. After which the Health Department has declared the area as a Containment Zone and has taken samples for examination of other family members who came in contact. Along with this, anti-larva fogging and contact tracing are also being done in the area.

Since the first case came to light in Kanpur a month ago, the health department has been trying to stop the infection. But till now more than 6 km area has been made a container. From anti-larva fogging, all kinds of precautions are being taken, as well as people are being made aware. In the capital Lucknow, the DM has given instructions to stop the infection on the lines of Corona. DM Abhishek Prakash has said that the areas from where patients have come should be intensively investigated by making them containment zones. Not only this, many teams have been deployed for investigation, who will submit their report daily.
