Ration scam of 50 crores

Mhow/Indore: A scam of 50 crores has come out in the ration being supplied to the government fair price shops of Mhow area. Two police stations have registered a case against nine people in the case. Among them, the Bargonda police station accused the freight transport contractor and Congress leader Mohan Agarwal, his two sons Mohit and Tarun, associates Ayush Aggarwal, Lokesh Aggarwal, while the Kishanganj police station accused the operators of four ration shops. All the accused are absconding. On this, ASP Amit Tolani has announced a reward of two thousand rupees. Till the investigation is completed, the scam figure could reach around Rs 100 crore.

The collusion of several government employees with local businessmen has also come to light. The investigation into the scandal was started on 17 August. On the basis of the information, SDM Abhilash Mishra started investigating the case, the names of Mohan and his two sons who transported goods from the Civil Supplies Corporation to the ration shops came to know. These people used to bring back about 8-10 quintals out of grains, after delivering them to grain ration shops, in connivance with the operators and government employees at the ration shops. For this Tarun used to give rupees to the shop operators.

When raiding a warehouse at Agarwal in the Mhow Mandi complex, 600 sacks of rice were found from there, which Agarwal could not calculate. There is no tax on rice in the government market, so it was doubtful to have rice there. On Saturday, Collector Manish Singh said that this grain was consumed in the market. Singh has stated the involvement of government employees in this case.

Consumers were compensated by cheating
The collector said that the foodgrains in which Mohan withdrew from the ration shops were supplied to the consumers. They were fraudulently given low rations. The quality of rice found at ration shops was much worse than the price offered there. In such a situation, it is feared that the accused of rice was also changed.

Kerosene mixing
Mohan Aggarwal is also accused of adulteration in kerosene. SDM Mishra, checking his vehicles, found that all the vehicles were driven by blue kerosene. A case has also been registered against Mohan for illegal use and black marketing of government kerosene.

Aggarwal has been supplying goods to ration shops for over 20 years. The names of firms in Mandla and Neemuch also said that Mohan’s employees came to know that Mohan used to rig the grain and sell the goods to his associates Aayush and Lokesh. When these two traders were examined here, the names of firms of Mandla and Neemuch also came up, where both these traders told to sell goods. The owner of a Neemuch-based firm has a case of misappropriation of government ration in the same station. Collector said that his property will be attached if the absconding accused are not exposed.
