Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve said that it has been decided to reduce the single journey fare of AC local by 50 percent. Railway Board will soon release the notification of reduction in fares.

AC local was introduced with the aim of making the journey of the local train, which is called the lifeline of Mumbai, more accessible, but due to its excessive ticketing, fewer passengers were traveling at present.

Passengers will increase in AC train
The minimum fare for 5 km of AC local train is Rs 60, which will now come down to Rs 30. However, there has been no reduction in season pass fares. According to senior railway officials, this decision will increase the number of passengers in AC trains. With this, many people traveling in first class will travel by AC local.

MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde welcomed
MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, who raised the demand for a reduction in AC local fares, welcomed the decision and said that the fare for AC season pass should also be reduced. The season pass of AC local is also about 110 percent more as compared to first class.

238 AC Local Proposal
It is proposed to buy 238 AC locals through Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation in the coming years. AmarVC will procure 238 fully AC trains under MUTP 3 and 3A. Thus, MRVC in Mumbai has set a target of introducing more AC locals in the city by 2025. Seeing the good response of the passengers on Western Railway, there is a demand to run more AC locals during the pickup hours.
