Panaji: The Goa government has withdrawn the permission given to the organizers of the ‘Sunburn Electronic Dance Music’ (EDM) festival to organize the event in December. The BJP government in the state has been facing criticism since allowing for the festival amidst the proliferation of Kovid-19.
The Congress party protested in the city on Friday. On Friday evening, State Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said that the department has withdrawn the permission given to the organizers of Sunburn 2020. He said, “This decision has been taken in view of the epidemic situation in Goa. We do not want to allow people to gather in large quantities as there is a risk of the virus spreading. ”
The festival was to be held from December 27 to December 29 at Vagator village in North Goa. Organizers said on Friday that they were ready to cancel the festival if the state of the epidemic worsens. He said that the program will be organized by following social distance.
