Fire in Uttarakhand’s forests, heavy damage in , Pauri, Almora and Pithoragarh, 4 people killed

Dehradun: A fire is raging in the forests of Uttarakhand. The forested areas of Pauri, Almora, and Pithoragarh have been the worst affected by the fire. In 962 incidents of forest fire in Uttarakhand, the fire has so far taken 1258 hectares area. In the last week, there has been a rapid increase in the incidents of fire. Among them, the Pauri district is at the top. Last year, there was a fire on 172 hectares in the entire state. So far this year 338 hectares of area in Pauri alone have been destroyed by fire. After Pauri, Almora, and Pithoragarh are second, third.

So far four people have died due to forest fire in Uttarakhand. 03 people have been injured in this. 07 cattle have also got fire, so 22 cattle have got scorched. Apart from this, trees with three thousand Leesa lesions, and 32 thousand saplings planted in the plantation area have also come under fire. This is when the peak season of forest fire has not even started. The period from April 15 to June 15 is considered to be the most sensitive in terms of forest fire. CCF Man Singh, who is looking after forest fire management, says that the incidence of forest fire has increased from around Holi. In the last one week, winds have been blowing at a speed of 150 kmph. This has given rise to the fire. In a way, the fire has been out of control.

Fire in Uttarakhand's forests

Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has also expressed his concern about forest fire. During the review meeting last week, the CM had given instructions to use the helicopter if needed, but the Forest Department has not been able to arrange the helicopter yet. Forest Minister Harak Singh Rawat is appealing to the common people to come forward. Harak Singh says that a tree gives life to many people. Therefore, people should come forward to protect the forests if they need to. The government has so far released thirty crore rupees to control the fire. Following the instructions of CM, about one crore rupees have also been released for the purchase of new equipment.
