Corona explosion in Maharashtra’s Government Medical College, 49 fully vaccinated girls infected

Pune: 49 girl students and two employees of Government Medical College at Miraj in Sangli district of Maharashtra have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. He said that the infected girl students had received both doses of the vaccine. All the infected people have been admitted to the hospital attached to the college.

Jitendra Dudi, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Sangli said that a total of 51 people – 49 girl students and two employees – have been confirmed to be infected with the virus. He said that most of the girl students did not have any symptoms of the disease. All of them have been admitted to the hospital attached to the college.

Earlier, the college’s dean Dr. Sudhir Nanandkar said, “There have been cases of infection in one part of the hostel as girl students gather in the mess for food.” In the earlier report, 18 girl students were confirmed to be infected.

Meanwhile, 2,172 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday. During this, 1,098 patients were discharged from the hospital, while 22 people lost their lives due to corona. There are currently 11,492 active cases of corona in the state. It is a matter of relief that no new case of Omicron has been reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. A total of 167 patients of Omicron have been found in the state so far.
