The first round of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) has been completed. Officers and staff have also been identified for election work. Further preparations will be finalized as soon as the guidelines are received from the Election Commission.

Officials of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office said that all preparatory preparations have to be done for the by-election. There are around 6700 polling stations in the 27 assembly constituencies currently held. Their number will increase by more than 2500. Most of the collectors have also given its proposals, which have been tested and sent to the Election Commission for final decision.

District Election Officers have elected employees to conduct elections. At the same time, the first round of EVMs and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) to be held in the by-elections have been conducted. Guidance has not yet been received from the Election Commission regarding other arrangements being made at the polling station. Based on this, further action will be taken.

Commission will soon issue guidelines
Sources say that the Election Commission is going to send directions soon for the voting. Suggestions have been taken from all national political parties regarding this. Based on this, the commission will decide the procedure under which the election will be conducted.

This time political parties will also have to change the manner of campaigning and the commission will have to make arrangements to monitor them. There is a possibility that the commission may fix election dates in October, given the state of festivals.

The status of Corona is being monitored
On the other hand, the Chief Electoral Officer is constantly monitoring the condition of corona infection in all the by-election districts. Reports are being called daily from collectors and it is also being sent to the Election Commission.
