Bengaluru: In Pulakeshi Nagar of Bangalore, the mob ransacked the police station and the Congress MLA’s residence on Tuesday night. The incident occurred after an alleged relative of the MLA shared a post related to the communal issue on social media. Police said that a large number of people gathered near the residence of MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy and vandalized and damaged the vehicles standing there. The mob then targeted the police station thinking that the police had kept the accused in custody there. Witnesses said that vehicles of police teams trying to stop the violence were also damaged by the mob.

At the same time, Karnataka CM Yedurappa has also turned his eyes on this issue and has given instructions for action. He said that “the instructions issued against the criminals and the government have taken all possible steps to curb the situation. Attack on journalists, police and public is unacceptable. The government will not tolerate such incitements and rumors. Strict action will be taken against the criminals. ” Not only this, Section 144 has been implemented in the entire Bangalore city. Curfew has also been imposed in the limits of DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations.

Police sources said that the accused, who described himself as a relative of the MLA, allegedly shared a post on social media, which provoked people from a community. The MLA appealed to the community members not to commit violence. He said in the video message, “I appeal to the Muslim brothers that we should not indulge in violence due to the mistakes of some miscreants.” There is no need to fight. We are all brothers. We will punish the culprits as per law. We are also with you. I appeal to my Muslim friends to keep the peace. “
