Indore: ‘Sirfire Aashiq’, accused of killing seven people, including a couple, in a case related to the horrific fire at a residential building in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested by the police in an injured condition during a dramatic development. A senior official gave this information on Sunday morning.

The officer claimed that the accused got injured after falling on the road while trying to escape from the police party. Vijay Nagar police station in-charge Tehzeeb Qazi told that Shubham Dixit alias Sanjay (27), an accused in the horrific fire incident in a residential building of Swarn Bagh Colony, was arrested from Lohamandi area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

According to Qazi, Dixit is originally from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh and was working for a private company in Indore for some time. Meanwhile, a video has surfaced in which Dixit is seen moaning on a stretcher and bleeding from one of his arms and legs while undergoing treatment at the city’s Government Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital.

When asked about this, the station in-charge said that Dixit, accused of killing seven people by setting fire to the fire, was trying to escape after seeing the police team in Lohamandi area and got injured while jumping the divider on the road. According to the Qazi, Dixit, who was absconding after the fire, was hiding in his friends’ house in Niranjanpur and later reached the Lohamandi area. He said that detailed interrogation of the accused is being done.

According to police officials, Dixit had set her scooter parked in the parking lot of a residential building in Swaran Bagh Colony on fire on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, intending to take revenge on a woman after she failed attempt to marry her. He told that later the flames had assumed a formidable form. According to officials, seven people, including a couple, were killed while nine others were injured in the fire.

The police have registered a case against Dixit under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 (murder) and 436 (use of the inflammable substance with the intention of setting fire to a building), he said. According to officials, Dixit lived as a tenant in a flat in the fire-affected residential building six months ago and wanted to marry a woman who lived in the building, but the woman’s marriage was fixed elsewhere, due to which Dixit had allegedly taken a pity towards him.

According to officials, apart from the issue of marriage, there was a dispute between Dixit and the woman concerned a few days ago over a transaction of about Rs 10,000. He said that Dixit, an accused in the horrific fire, had left the residential building of Swarn Bagh Colony six months ago due to a dispute over money with the woman.
