Pune: In view of the increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 by the Omicron variant in Pune city and the possibility of further spread of the infection, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a notification for Warje-Karve Nagar. Four Micro Containment Zones have been declared in the ward area.

According to PMC officials, the Assistant Commissioner of PMC has declared four micro-containment zones in the areas of Kothrud, Karve Nagar, and Erandavane. Parimal Apartments in Karve Nagar, Amrit Apartments on Prabhat Road, Swagat Apartments near Sehwas Society in Karve Nagar, and Karishma Society at Karve Road have been declared as micro-containment zones by the PMC.

Rising corona case
There were several micro containment zones in the PMC area during the second wave and they gradually reduced after the number of COVID cases declined, while all containment zones in the PMC limits were removed, causing a sudden spike in cases. Forced to take action again. Senior citizens living in containment zones and children below the age of 10 years have been suggested to monitor their oxygen levels daily. Even citizens suffering from existing health ailments in containment zones have been advised to monitor their oxygen levels daily.

Appeal to follow Corona rules
The concerned wards have issued orders regarding the Micro Containment Zone. Ward officials have been asked to check the oxygen level and body temperature of visitors in housing societies identified as micro-containment zones and ensure that residents follow social distancing norms and use face masks. An official of the Municipal Health Department said that the societies have to do thermal screening and oxygen level checks of each visitor. During the screening, if one’s oxygen level is less than 94 percent, then that person should be immediately referred to the nearest PMC or private hospital or doctor for further investigation.

Dr. Ashish Bharti, Head of Health, PMC informed that daily monitoring of Kovid cases is done at the ward level and containment zones are declared by the concerned wards in case of an increase of Covid. Dr. Bharti said that if clusters of COVID patients are found in a particular area, building, or housing complex, it should be declared as a Micro Containment Zone by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner acting as Incident Commander for the jurisdiction of the respective ward offices. Will be done. He said that this decision is a step towards preventing the spread of virus infection.

Meanwhile, a total of 16 people, including 10 police officers and 6 accused from the cyber cell of Pune city police probing the exam question paper scam, have tested positive for COVID-19. The cyber ​​cell has registered three separate cases related to the question paper leak case of TET, health department, and Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority (MHADA) exam. Several accused, including officials of these departments, members of the private firm responsible for conducting the examination, and agents helping the accused linked to the candidates, have been arrested in the case so far.
