Jaipur: With the approval of new state medical colleges in Sikar and permission to increase the seats in three medical colleges, the number of seats for MBBS courses in the state has increased by 230. The National Medical Commission has approved to start of Sikar’s Srikalyan Government Medical College in the session 2020-21 and to increase the number of MBBS in Ajmer and Udaipur by 50-50 and in Barmer by 30 seats.

Medical and Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma informed that with this sanction, the total number of MBBS seats in the state has increased by 230 seats. A total of 650 seats were added last year. Thus, the number of MBBS seats in the state has increased by 880 in the last two years. Vaibhav Galleria, Government Secretary, Department of Medical Education, said that in the year 2018, there were a total of 1950 seats for MBBS in the state which has now increased to 2830. Meanwhile, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara has expressed happiness over the approval of the medical college in Sikar. Dotasara tweeted, “The much awaited Sikar Medical College has got permission from the National Medical Commission. It is the result of the strong will of the Congress government of the state that the people of Sikar have got their right, their medical college. ”
