New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has approved the New Education Policy 2020. In the new education policy, the scope of the Right to Education Act has been broadened. Now children from 3 years to 18 years will be brought under the Right to Education Act, 2009. Now 6 percent of the total GDP will be spent in education. So far, it is about 4 percent including the state and the center. The maximum limit for fees will be fixed. The new policy provides for graded autonomy to educational institutions. The better the grade, the more Autonomy will be given. There will be only one regulator for higher education. There will be a criterion for deemed and central university.

Many new changes have been made in the new education policy, from school education to higher education. There will be a single regulator for higher education (except law and medical education). Apart from this, there is a target to reach 50 percent gross enrollment rate in higher education by 2035.

Subject can be selected according to interest
The new education policy will allow subjects to be chosen according to their interest. A combination of PCB or PCM will no longer be necessary. Technology will be widely used in education. There will also be a public-private partnership. 6 percent of GDP will be spent on education. The maximum limit for fees will be fixed. A virtual lab will be developed for education. There will be e-courses in 8 major languages ​​of the country. The goal is to double the expenditure on education. The emphasis has been on reducing regulation in the education sector. There will be only one regulator instead of individual regulators. Emphasis will be on more use of technology in education. English will not be studied till the 5th. Till 5th will be studied in the mother tongue, the regional language. There will be an exemption for not studying English till the 8th.

Multiple Entry and Exit Systems
Multiple entry and exit (multi-level entry and exit) system has been implemented in the new policy. In today’s system, if after four years of engineering or 6 semesters, you cannot study further for any reason, then there is no solution, but after 1-year certificate, diploma after 2 years and 3-4 in multiple entry and exit system. The degree will be available after the year.
