New Delhi: Members of the task force advising the central government on covid management are insisting that a nationwide lockdown be imposed immediately. The task force is headed by Dr. VK Paul who reports directly to the Prime Minister. The task force has experts from institutions like AIIMS and ICMR.
These experts, who advocate lockdowns across the country, believe that we need to break the transition cycle immediately. He says that medical resources are severely crushed. If the pace of daily infection remains the same, then the medical condition will be worse. There is also a limit to increase resources. In this case, we must first reduce the infection number. For this, the transition cycle has to be broken. Covid spreads by coming into contact with each other. If there is a nationwide lockdown, the cycle of infection will break due to lack of contact and the daily increase in the number of patients will decrease by four to four lakhs.
Is there any other option left? The Prime Minister’s statement given here on 20 April is noteworthy. He said that every effort should be made to avoid the lockdown. It should be planted only when there is no other way left.
A member of the task force said that we have been insisting for the last few months to tell the public that lockdown has become very important. Countrywide lockdown not as we are doing a little bit here and there right now. Because the infection is increasing in the whole country.
Another member said that he was looking at the wrong angle. There is a limit to improving the health-medical framework. We have improved the oxygen supply, but there is still a shortage of this gas in view of the sick. Covid’s merge extends from one man to another.
