Sheopur (MP): The hopes of reviving the population of cheetahs in the country have suffered a major setback. A cheetah named Sasha died on Monday in Kuno National Park, Sheopur. This cheetah was suffering from a kidney infection for the last three months. Sasha was one of the eight Namibian cheetahs that were released into Kuno National Park last year on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
According to the report, a few months after Sasha was shifted to Kuno, she started ignoring the food. Sasha was not eating and was lethargic. Apart from him, the other cheetahs were now fully fit and hunting too. Seeing Sasha’s condition, the Kuno officials become worried because she is not showing good behavior. Seeing this, the officials decided to take him out of the enclosure and shifted him to the treatment center. Doctors at Wild Life said Sasha’s condition was critical and said that her chances of survival were slim.
On behalf of Kuno National Park, it was said that on the 22nd, the female cheetah Sasha was found lethargic by the monitoring team. On examination, it was found that he needed treatment after which he was brought to the quarantine enclosure. An examination of his blood sample revealed that he had a kidney infection. Further investigation revealed that Sasha was suffering from a kidney ailment even before he was brought to India. Sasha died during treatment.
For information, let us tell you that last year, on the occasion of his birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released 8 cheetahs (5 females and 3 males) brought from Namibia at Kuno National Park in Sheopur.
