Dubai: The ‘Museum of the Future which is being touted as the “world’s most beautiful building” was inaugurated at a grand ceremony held in Dubai. It took nine years to build this building. This seven-story building is 77 meters high and it has been constructed in 30 thousand square meters. It is located just a short distance from Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
The ‘Museum of the Future is the latest addition to the architectural specimens built in Dubai. A press release said that the museum outlines the future of humanity and inspires innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities faced by human development. Mohammed Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and President of the Dubai Future Foundation said at the opening ceremony on Tuesday that the ‘Museum of the Future is a living museum.
The building, designed by architect Sean Killa of Killa Design, is a masterpiece of engineering and computer-assisted design. It is made of stainless steel and houses 1,024 artifacts created using robots.
Spanning an area of 30,000 square meters, the seven-story pillarless structure stands 77 meters tall. The stainless steel facade, which extends to more than 17,000 square meters, is illuminated by 14,000 meters of Arabic calligraphy designed by Bin Lahej, based on the poetry of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The interior of the building consists of seven floors dedicated to various themes, including the future of travel and living in space; education, climate change, and the environment; as well as health, wellness, and spirituality. One floor is for children, the leaders of tomorrow, where they will be able to explore and solve the challenges of the future.
What does Arabic calligraphy say?
The Arabic calligraphy on the building consists of three quotes from Shaikh Mohammed.
- We may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone.
- The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it.
- The future does not wait. The future can be designed and built today.
